Any vehicle, much less an off-road vehicle, must have a reliable and sturdy suspension system. It can improve how well your car handles rocky terrain without harming it. We are therefore delighted to present the Icon suspension system made to fit theTacoma models.
The Stage 1 EXP suspension system from ICON Vehicle Dynamics is theentry level performance suspension system for the Toyota Tacoma and is designed to improve on- and off-road performance as well as front-end lift and leveling for a suitable stance and the ability to accommodate up to 33″ tires. This system combines our dependable 2.0 Aluminum Series nitrogen-charged monotube shocks for the back with the cutting-edge new 2.5 EXP series coilover shocks.
The 2005Current Toyota Tacoma EXP Series front shock absorbers are the heart of this Stage 1 system. They combine the performance of a quality 2.5inch diameter shock absorber with the ease and financial advantages of using the Tacoma’s factory coil spring and other parts. EXP provides 0 to 2 inches of suspension elevation, custom-tuned performance, and the longest possible travel in a cost-effective package, bridging the gap between spacer lifts and threaded bodied coilovers.
The provided sway bar relocation brackets enable sway bar clearance from the EXP coilovers and reduce sway bar link bind throughout the suspension travel range. This makes it possible for the suspension to move more freely and to accommodate the complete range of wheel movement without placing undue stress on any OE parts.
Rear shocks from the V.S. 2.0 Aluminum Series that are specifically designed for the 2005CurrentTacoma complete the Stage 1 EXP suspension system. The 2.0 Aluminum Series shocks are a premium improvement for the weekend warrior and daily street motorist seeking better on and off-road performance. They give your Tacoma balanced front-to-rear vehicle control and a fantastic driving experience when combined with the ICON 2.5 EXP Series front coilovers.
Upper Control Arm
Even though this kit does not come with a UCA or upper control arm we want to talk about it and explain its importance. Whenever you are changing your vehicle’s geometry and upgrading it with a suspension kit, especially on 4WD vehicles, you absolutely need an upper control arm.
The UCA is there to correct alignment and inherent clearance issues that arise when you lift or modify the suspension of your 4WD. Upper control arms can be found on independent front suspension (IFS) vehicles and they connect the top of the spindle to the frame.
The UCA is not a load-bearing piece of an IFS suspension, however, it does serve the purpose of guiding your spindle in a pre-determined motion when your suspension cycles up or down. Said load is handled by the lower control arm, which connects to the lower portion of the spindle.
